Our commitment to providing Culturally Sensitive Services

Working as a psychologist with Indigenous communities has been a profoundly enriching experience, one that has deepened Dr. Mork's understanding of cultural diversity and the importance of respect in assessment practice. Her journey began with a commitment to learn about and honor the unique perspectives, traditions, and challenges faced by Indigenous peoples.   From the outset, she recognized that building trust was paramount. Therefore, approaching each interaction with humility and openness was essential. This meant actively listening to community members, acknowledging their lived experiences, and recognizing the strengths embedded within their cultural heritage.   Respect for the population she works with goes beyond mere acknowledgment; it involves embracing cultural humility and continuously educating herself about Indigenous histories, worldviews, and healing practices. She appreciates the resilience and wisdom inherent in traditional ways of knowing and healing. Integrating these into therapeutic approaches not only respects the community's values but also enhances the effectiveness of psychological assessments.
